National Divyangjan Finance & Development Corporation (NDFDC) is a CPSU under the aegis of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJ&E), Govt. of India.
NDFDC is the implementing agency for National Fellowship for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (NFPwD) Scheme and shall be responsible for undertaking all the activities leading to the selection of beneficiaries as per the scheme guidelines, since 2025.
The NFPwD is formulated and funded by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GoI. The objective of the scheme is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students belonging to PwD category to pursue higher studies leading to M.Phil/Ph.D, in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).
The scheme provides for 200 Fellowships yearly. Out of the total 200 slots available, 75% scholars (i.e.150) will be selected based on National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) of UGC and remaining 25% scholars (i.e. 50) will be selected based on UGC-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR NET-JRF) joint test. However, the slot is transferable between UGC-NET and CSIR-NET to the extent of total no. of slot, in case sufficient no. of eligible scholars is not available in one category.
The Cut-offs (in Marks or Percentile) for the said exams is prepared by NTA. Shortlisting is based on top percentile score published by National Testing Agency (NTA) through UGC NET / Joint CSIR UGC NET exams results.
UDID is mandatory for the fellowship under NFPwD Scheme.
